Numantia harbors Segeda inhabitants, set against Rome, as Numantia’s friends and allies, with the consequent confrontation of Numantia against Rome. In 143-142 B.C., the last and most important phase of the Celtiberian War starts; it’s the ten year long fight that took place in Numantia, known by the name of “Numantine War”. Quinto Pompeyo tried besieging the city, bounding the Duero and Merdancho rivers by a ditch, but failed at fighting Numantines, being forced to enter a peace treaty with Numantia; this treaty was rejected, afterwards, in the Rome Senate.
